AKER


Aker also known as Akeru or Akerui. This ancient Egyptain god is a double lion god. His symbol is a akhet. Aker is showed as a double headed lion or two lions sitting back to back with each other with the sun and sky appearing between them. The lions were named sef (yesterday) and duau (today). The egyptians believed that aker an earth god guarded the gates of dawn and the sunset that set every night and the sun rise which rose every morning. the egyptian placed statues of aker at the doors of palaces and tombs to scare off evil spirits. Statues of aker were usually given the head of men or women also known as a sphinxes.
